it’s about time

With my in-laws in town for Thanksgiving, we ended up taking pictures… lots and lots of pictures. Luis became the official family candid photographer and captured virtually every moment… as seen here:

Simpson Sez: Worst Prayer Yet

In honor of the recent Thanksgiving festivities, here’s a clip from The Simpsons’ Thanksgiving (from almost 18 years ago). Enjoy!

Black Friday’s Best Buys

So Natalia, Carolina & I stopped by Best Buy last night, just to see what was going down over there. Carolina was interested in buying a laptop, so Natalia & I skulked around over by the DVDs to see what kind of sales were going on. There were tons of great sales for TV-on-DVD sets ($15 or $20 each!). So here’s what Natalia & I ended up with:

  • The Simpsons – Season 10
  • Gilmore Girls – Season 6
  • Gilmore Girls – Season 7
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Season 1
    • I’ve been told that I will really like this show, so here goes for a first season try!

Why is it that the one day I have time on my hands, I feel like this?

i love 1975

Carolina and I cooked the ENTIRE thanksgiving meal pretty much on our own (with the exception of the green jello that Daisy made and the store-bought pies). This is something I’ve never done before (and have never really had any desire to do), but since Carolina was really excited to cook I took it upon myself to “help out.” The day began with waking up at 7 AM to finish preparing the turkey (Luis made a great little helper throughout the entire day). By 1:30 we were ready to sit down to eat. Most of the food taste a little weird to me (though I was assured that it all tasted just fine). After ignoring the Cowboys game, taking a short nap, watching home movies, and having an hour and a half long conversation with my mom, I found myself wandering down to the basement of Grandpa and Grandma Clement’s house. I quickly got over the slight claustrophobia from having the ceiling 4 inches away from my head and began perusing through a book case. It was there that I found it… the greatest piece of home decorating history… 1975′s Better Homes & Garden: Home Decorating Book. I was in love. Although I don’t necessarily love all of the bold patterns and colors put together, there were several pieces of furniture that I would put in my house in a heartbeat. This book just had to be mine, and thankfully Grandma Clement effortlessly parted with it so it has now found a new home on my bookshelf.

3 word day

i hate shopping.

alarming moments

Dear A.C.,

How are you doing today? Despite being late to my study group because you conveniently decided that you weren’t going to wake me up this morning (even though this has been our routine for the last 5 years), I’m doing ok. Did I do something to make you upset? Are you feeling neglected? I do the best that I can to take care of you, but I can’t do it all on my own. I need you to pull your own weight too. You have been so good to me throughout these years. You never complained when I would pretend that it was your fault that I slept in (even though you and I both know that it wasn’t your fault), but I’ve matured and I no longer make those excuses. I now take responsibility for my actions and I expect you to do the same. I’m writing you this letter because I need you to make a choice. If you no longer want to be part of my life, you need to let me know. Maybe this morning was your way of gently breaking it to me that you just want to be done. If that is the case, I can understand. Don’t worry, you can be replaced in a split second. All it takes is a $5 trip to Wal-Mart. There are plenty more where you came from. You are a dying species anyway (in case you are not aware, most people use their cell phones to wake up these days). But we have had a good life together… we’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve lived in Hawaii, California and Utah together… which is why I think you deserve a second chance. Do you want a second chance? I will be very sad to see you go, but I want what is best for you so if you want to be relieved from your duties then I guess I’ll understand.

Sincerely,
Natalia
