what i do to make my husband happy

Luis loves Harry Potter. Those are the only books he’ll read. He is convinced that I need to love them too. But I don’t. As I’ve mentioned before, I have a problem liking things that are too popular. I promised Luis that I would finish reading them before the next movie comes out… which means that I have a lot of reading to do in the next few weeks (I’m currently on book 4). Wish me luck.

slumlord

My sister-in-law has given my landlord a nickname: slumlord. I’m not exactly sure why she calls him that. Maybe she is just in love with Slumdog Millionaire. Maybe it is because he owns a lot of apartments. Or maybe it is because one of the sides of my kitchen sink has been clogged for about three weeks (I would post a pic but it’s gross). But it is not my landlord’s fault. I kept forgetting to call him. And since I was still able to use one of the sides of the sink, it wasn’t vitally important for me to get it fixed. Last week I tried to get Luis to make the call, but he has telephonophobia and refused to do it. So yesterday I finally made the call and my landlord came today. Lucky for me, I have now acquired a new set of skills: diagnosing and then fixing clogged pipes. Should I add this to my resume?

Star Sighting

Well… most of you don’t know who this is, but Natalia & I definitely did! I forgot to write a blog post about it back when it happened, but here it is.

Natalia & I went to the airport on New Year’s Day to pick up Ricardo and Maricela and who do we see there, just sitting and waiting?

That’s Zach Gilford from one of our favorite TV shows, Friday Night Lights. While we were there, Natalia kept on insisting that we ask him for a picture, but we were still unsure whether it was actually him or not. So, instead, I got a couple of super clandestine photos without him noticing! (He’s the one in the orange jacket)

I later heavily regretted not getting a real picture with him!

mispronunciation

It drives me crazy when people say fustrating instead of frustrating. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me. Another one that bugs me (though not quite to the extent of nails on a chalkboard) is when people say nucular instead of nuclear.

apartments

For the most part I actually really love living in apartments. I lived in apartments/condos all the way up until the age of 13, and so when I finally had to learn how to mow lawns and weed flower beds I decided that living in houses was totally overrated. I love that anytime anything happens in my apartment, I can just pick up the phone and ask the landlord to come fix it. Having said that, there are also huge advantages to living in a house… like the fact that when your neighbors are having a kiddie dance party, you don’t have to hear the little stomping feet.

WWW = obselete

I’m beginning to see this, more and more:

Please, come visit my blog at http://www.mycutesybutlameblog.blogspot.com/

Uhm, no need for that WWW. It has now, pretty much, become obselete. So please, don’t make yourself look stupid by advertising your blog as such. Oh yes, and there are other (better) blog services out there… besides blogger.  In fact, the reason it had taken me so long to actually start a blog, was because Blogger sucked so bad. The end.

summer kick-off

I think Memorial Day should be officially subtitled “The Summer Kick-off Holiday.” For as long as I can remember, Memorial Day weekend has always been used for bbq-ing and taking a dip at the pool. So why not make it official?
