I’m not one to yield to peer pressure. In fact, I usually do the exact opposite of what everyone else is doing just for the sake of being different. But one year ago today I decided to succumb to the pressures around me and start blogging. So I guess it is time for some self-reflection…

One year ago:
I was busy working 2 jobs: one was full-time for the legal department of a library software company and the other was part-time at the law library. I was getting ready to quit the full-time job so that I would have time to do an externship with a local immigration law firm. I was getting ready to enter my 3rd year of law school. And in the midst of all of that, I was planning the biggest event of my life… my wedding.

Today:
I’m writing my 215th blog post. I’ve really come to enjoy getting to know other people through their blogs. I’m kind of jealous of all the mom bloggers out there with their cute kids. Although I know right now is just not the right time, I half wish I could be one of them (but then again, I think about how Black + White + Honduran + Salvadorean may just be a recipe for ugly kids and I’m quickly dissuaded). I’m diligently studying for the bar, but am unfortunately unemployed. I get a little irritated when people complain about their jobs because I would gladly trade places with them in an instant.

Next year:
I WILL have a job. Hopefully my knee will stop giving me trouble and I will be able to run the 5K I had planned on running this year. I will have figured out how to keep the kids we teach at church under control and yet still have them love me. I will extend my quest to be my niece, Hannah’s, favorite person in the world, to include being my niece, Lia’s, favorite person in the world too :)
