Dear Karina,
September 26, 2009
Given your comment on this post, I feel that I need to dedicate a post just for you.
In 4 words: You just don’t understand. (Or is that considered to be 4 1/2 words?)
How can you NOT love the iphone? It is the epitome of uh-mazingness. I may eat my words later on, but for right now, there are just way too many great and wonderful things that are only accessible through an iphone. As you said, no, I’m not a joiner. I rarely give in to fads. But I have been extremely happy with my macbook and have never regretted that purchase (well, never regretted accepting that gift). I understand that macbooks are “trendy” but I love mine. It has nothing to do with the fact that other people like them. I’m not just trying to “be cool.” I just genuinely love my macbook and I’m pretty certain I will feel the same way about my new iphone. So there!

Here's my problem with the iphone…it's AWESOME, fabulous, convenient, and I TOTALLY WANT ONE, but I propose 2 problems with it:
#1: It's outrageously expensive to own the cell phone plan for it. And the phone itself costs a bundle, right? Or do I have one of those wrong?
#2: I have yet to learn if one (a parent) can put an internet fliter/blocker onto the iphone. I know my kids are REALLY REALLY young, but I want to set the pace now about always having an internet filter on our electronic devices…just to be safe on the web and all..
So as you can see, I'm very close to converting to the iphone…you'll just have to let me know about those 2 details…:)

I thought you said you guys were "poor newlyweds"? and touchscreens? REALLY? Do you even KNOW how many things can go wrong with touchscreens? Take my friend Christina and her iPOD touch cracked screen, cracked iPod, no fun. And what's this about adding on internet filter/blockers? I didn't even know that was possible on a phone.

I feel the need to continue this argument.. you know I love you, right? =D
First of all: my hate for the iphone did not start with it: i hated ipods first. I never understood the point of the wheel.. why? i wanted a touch screen so i could go directly to something, scrolling through thousands of songs never appealed to me. I vowed to get an ipod if and only if it ever came with a touch screen.
voila! the ipod touch!
i got one.
i was so excited until I found out:
1. itunes and windows vista hate each other. (while this is vista's fault, still, NOT user frindly)
— itunes wouldn't recognize any of my music i burned DIRECTLY into it, creating the need for me to manually enter in titles and artists.. uh yah, not going to happen
2. to fix the above prob ppl advised me to download other management programs instead of using itunes, why must i get ONE more thing?
3. itunes is just difficult and pissy and doesn't share music well, work well, and generally acts like a petulant child
4. the touch screen only works from actual fingers and not finger nails, as a palm user for the last 10 years this drives/drove me nuts
5. the fact that you can only fun 1 app at a time is supremely annoying.
6. the fact that i have to constantly download apps to do half of the things it advertises is annoying.
7. the fact that it is ONLY touch screen.. HATE that, LOVE my keyboard
8. like someone else mentioned, the price, the amount of money you pay for glitz, name branding, etc
9. the fact that iphones think they are the best thing in the world when they have just as many problems and issues as every other phone..
– i eventually sold my ipod touch i craigslist, yes i hated it that much. i will never own a ipod again. mp3 players were around long before apple started messing with them and i'm okay with NOT having to move all my music to itunes, which i hate anyways..
