The Utah snow has finally hit… and it couldn’t have happened at a worse time (… well, for me, anyway). This morning, I had the task of safely taking Natalia to the airport AFTER it had been snowing all night… here’s how the morning went for yours truly:

  • 5:05 AM: Depart from “La Maison Rojay;” No snow is falling… YET
  • 5:17 AM: The snow begins to fall, and we soon discover the windshield wipers aren’t working properly
  • 5:24 AM: While trying to get onto the I-15 on-ramp, we slide into the adjoining lane… luckily no other car was there
  • 5:26 AM: We enter I-15, only to discover that the windshield situation is getting slightly worse, and that the freeway lane dividers are nowhere to be seen
  • 6:29 AM: Miss the 1-80 West exit for the airport; We take 600 North instead
  • 6:38 AM: Pull into a gas station to clean the grime off of the windshield only to discover our rear passenger-side tire is half-flat, and Natalia’s flight was going to start boarding in just 10 minutes. I decide to fill it back up hoping it will hold.

  • 6:51 AM: Pull into the Airport parking garage. The tire is doing magnificently. To take a break from the driving stress, I walk Natalia into the airport and to the security checkpoint.
  • 7:07 AM: Pull out of the Airport parking garage. Followed by 2 1/2 hours of the most hellish winter-driving experience I’ve ever faced…

To be continued…

Natalia: My morning ended with my flight arriving 30 minutes late, the gas light turning on as soon as I got into my car at the economy lot, the credit card reader not allowing me to leave the economy lot, and arriving to work an hour late.
I wanted nothing more than to go home and crawl into bed and cry over all the stress of the morning, but instead i was responsible and went to work.
