weekend in review

This weekend was our stake conference, and despite the fact that it was a Luis-less weekend, I was determined to enjoy the conference and get as much out of it as I possibly could. So Saturday morning, I started off my day with going to the temple:

I love the feeling of peace and tranquility at the temple. I always leave the temple feeling rejuvenated and more ready and able to tackle whatever obstacles or challenges I may be enduring at the time.

Saturday night was the adult session of the conference. We had a general authority here and he joked that the adult session of conference is the church’s “best kept secret” because it is always so good yet so few people bother to go. Honestly, that session of the conference was (in my opinion) better than the general session and those that didn’t have the opportunity to go definitely missed out. It seemed like each of the speakers had something to say that applied to me in my current situation in life.

I left the conference feeling like it had been tailored just for me. And then it got me thinking that every Sunday should be like this. All it takes is a little bit of effort on my part to be spiritually ready to hear the message that the speakers have to give.

week in review

Monday: Lovely date night with my husband. Skipped class for one night, went to “Cliffjumper,” and then to a super ghetto outlet mall where we tried as hard as humanly possible to avoid getting accosted.

Tuesday: Dropped Luis off at the airport first thing in the morning. Discovered that if you don’t arrive at least 45 minutes in advance, you won’t be allowed to check in. Felt really bad. Went to work. Went to class. Started freaking out that I’m not as prepared as I want to be for the bar. Resolved to work hard for the next month.

Wednesday: Calmed down substantially from the previous night. Realized I know a lot more about this whole law thing than I usually give myself credit for.

Thursday: Noticed that the professor teaching my class looked like he’d just rolled out of bed with tousled hair (mind you, he’s pretty much bald and there wasn’t much to tousle), and had on a shirt that looked like he’d just pulled it out of the packaging. Wondered if he’d been up all night gambling or possibly meeting up with a lady of the night.

Friday: Nice relaxing day at work where I was able to get caught up several assignments. Looking forward to studying this weekend (I know, I’m as shocked as you are).

De-lish

Natalia: So, where do you want to go eat?

Luis: How about Cliffjumper?

Natalia: You mean Claimjumper.

Luis: Yah, Claimjumper… Claimjumper.

Here’s what we ordered, and shared. Thinking about it makes my mouth water.

Taken for granted

I’m sure all of the marrieds out there take for granted the simple pleasures of sharing an everyday home-cooked meal with your spouse… I know I did. But these days, when quality time with the wife in our own home is scarce, there is nothing more relaxing than being able to do just that. Here’s to our most recent weekend together:

(It’s jell-o)

I think I’m funny

This is piggy-backing on Apple’s new iPad, and after Brent and I nicknamed the iPhone, the “MacBook Phone.”

LHB: Weeks 3-4

First off, let’s take a look at my stats from Weeks 1-2 (yes, I’ve been keeping track):

  • Total distance walked/jogged: 19.13 miles
  • Total time spent exercising: 6 hours 15 minutes
  • Total crunches: 498

Here are my stats in regards to my measurements:

  • Weight: -6.1 lbs.
  • Waist: -0.75 in.
  • Stomach: -1.75 in.
  • Chest: -1.75 in.

So, as you can see… all seems to be going QUITE well on the LHB front. Now, onto the goals for Weeks 3-4. Keep in mind, the main purpose of the goals for the next several week is to slowly and gradually introduce a more healthy lifestyle:

  • Exercise:
    • Last goal: 30 minutes of exercise every day*, regardless of distance
    • Updated goal: 40 minutes of exercise every day*, regardless of distance
    • New goal: 60 crunches daily*
  • Eating curfew:
    • Last goal: 10:00pm (2 freebies/week)
    • New goal: 9:30pm (1 freebie/week)
  • Eating limitations:
    • No “on-my-own” fast food. (1 freebie/week)
  • No soda, still.

(*Daily excludes Sunday)

Wish me luck. :)
