lunchtime with the guys (aka basecamp)
February 18, 2010
Luis has some pretty great friends, and he is lucky enough to go to school with some of them. So twice a week he gets together with these friends for lunch at the school cafeteria. What ends up happening is that on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as I’m sitting in my office catching up on my google reader and eating whatever lunch I’ve packed for myself, I see the calendar and get a teensy bit jealous:
Luis: It’s called BASECAMP!
So what if I refuse to call it what he wants me to call it? The calendar says “Lunchtime with the guys” and that is what I will continue to call it (did I mention I’m a teensy bit jealous?).
Well, since I happened to be in town on a weekday, I decided to join them. And what a wonderful experience it was. We talked, we laughed, we shrac-ed. It was exactly what I had hoped lunchtime with the guys would be.
Luis: Now, onto some clarifications… First off, I think my friends are important enough to have names.. they’re Spencer and Brent, and on-occasion Kelvin. Secondly, it IS, HAS BEEN, and FOREVER WILL BE known as BASECAMP. Brent & I have hung out at school since we first became schoolmates back in 2007. Thirdly, I loved having my wife there. The end.
