t.p. rant
April 9, 2011
Each of us has little things that for some reason just get under our skin. One of mine is the toilet paper roll. I’m not just talking whether I prefer it rolling over or under (I prefer over if you’re wondering). The thing that bugs me is this:

Going into the bathroom and noticing that the roll is empty and hasn’t been refilled. It happens in my home. It happens at work. And it always irritates me. It irritates me because changing the roll is oh so simple, and I don’t understand why “people” (not to name names… ahem Luis and the men I work with) just will not do it. The extra toilet paper both at home and at work are conveniently kept in the bathroom. It only takes 3 steps to the closet to grab a new roll. Then all they have to do is:

Remove.

And replace.
I’m not very picky. I won’t yell at you if you replace the roll going the wrong way. I won’t even yell at you if you don’t fold the ends into a nice little triangles. (Growing up you always know when my mom replaced the toilet paper because it will look like this… though she never required any of us to do it this way)

No, no, no. All I ask is that whoever uses the last of the toilet paper just please REPLACE IT! And don’t go leaving 2 sheets on the roll believing you’re tricking me into thinking the toilet paper isn’t gone. If you can see the cardboard roll, you know the toilet paper is gone. I know it is gone. Replace it. Oh and one more thing.

Simply putting a new roll of toilet paper on top of the empty toilet paper roll is NOT good enough.
Luis: Not good enough!? Oh come on!!!!!! By the way, thanks for putting me ON BLAST!

I prefer the tp to roll over too. And the triangle thing is cool! I think I’ll start doing that. :)

In my past life-hotel career, I was given the “opportunity” to perform all functions designated to running a hotel. One such function, was cleaning rooms to the level of quality that was expected. Doing that included ALWAYS leaving the toilet paper with the fancy triangle. Seeing that picture, took me back to those days I had long forgotten :)
