get out of my head

Do you ever have a song get stuck in your head, and no matter what you do or how hard you try, it just won’t go away? During my lunch break today I drove past this sign:

(No, not the carpets galore sign. Look between carpets galore and the Stratosphere.)

I know it is difficult to see, but the billboards has a picture of Susan Boyle and says “She Dreamed a Dream.” I’m not sure exactly what it is they’re advertising, but what I do know is that for the rest of the day my brain kept singing “I dreamed a dream in time gone byyyyyyy.” Unfortunately, that is the extent of my lyrical knowledge of that song, and it kept repeating itself over and over in my mind. It has been almost 12 hours since lunch and each time there is nothing else to think or worry about, my mind goes back to “I dreamed a dream in time gone byyyyyyy.”

something to chuckle over

I was listening to the radio on my way home from work today and they were giving a report on the weather. Apparently Las Vegas is going to get a “break” this week and the high is going to dip down to 95˚ this Wednesday. Ha! I guess that is a “break” considering we’ve been getting 105˚ weather since Saturday. The sad thing is that despite the heat, today I was freezing at the office and had to go sit out in the sun during my lunch break to thaw my bones.

it was bound to happen sometime

I have good news and I have bad news. I’ll give you the bad news first. I dropped my iphone on the ground and the screen cracked The good news? It still works! It looks a little ghetto, but I can live with that for a little while until I can figure out if there is someone who can fix it so I don’t have to spend a fortune on a new phone.

officially off our list

It is official. Macaroni Grill is off our list of go-to restaurants. I don’t know if they’ve changed recipes or if they’ve changed ingredients, but the last couple of times I’ve gone there the food has been an overall let-down.

Luis’ pasta tasted like it had been sitting for a couple of hours, his chicken was dry, and his salad seemed that it had been sitting in the fridge for at least a day. My lobster ravioli was all carelessly plopped onto my plate and broken apart, and the sauce was watered down. The bread (which we usually love) was dry, cold and stale even though our waitress swore it had “just come out of the oven.”

And to top it all off, the service was horrible. Even Luis, who usually has a strict 20% minimum tip policy, was willing to leave only a 14% tip. It makes me sad to have to say goodbye to a place we used to enjoy going quite a bit. But alas, when you leave a restaurant thinking that your version of that same dish is a million times tastier, you know it is time to quit.

my dishwasher

I love having my dishwasher back.

He puts away all of the food after dinner.

Just so you know, we don’t normally use that many dishes. This picture was the night we invited the missionaries over for dinner.

He hand washes all of our dishes.

(We are waiting for our landlord to either fix our dishwasher or replace it altogether.)

And then he leaves the counter spotless for me to make a whole new mess the following day.

sunday smiles

We got to spend our Sunday afternoon with two of our favorite little people.

We made Reese’s Bars

We read books.

We even went for a quick little sled ride around the lawn :)

BustedTees!

I recently discovered the treasure trove that is BUSTEDTEES. I dig their brand of humor, especially as it relates to TV & Movies. Here are some of the Tees I wouldn’t mind sporting (if you don’t pick up on the reference, read the rollover text):
