Christmas

Blog posts about everything Christmas. From Carols, to Trees, to Parties.

Holy Christmas

For almost 5 weeks you heard not even a peep from us here on the blog. So, in this quick post, I will try and cover what you missed…

  • Natalia’s brother came to town
  • My parents came to town
  • My brother, sister-in-law, and their two kiddos came to town
  • My sister-in-law’s mom and sister came to town
  • My sister came to town
  • Natalia’s other brother, sister-in-law, and their three girls came to town

Our Christmas was loud and crazy… and it was awesome. I loved seeing Abel loving on little Gracie. I loved being able to hang out with my brother and sister. I loved being together.

merry belated christmas

I had wanted a new Coach purse for Christmas. But when we found out we were pregnant, I just couldn’t justify spending a couple hundred dollars on a purse when I knew we would have lots of expenses this upcoming year. This is all fine and dandy for me, but for Luis (who needed to find a present for me), it presented a challenge.

Come Christmas morning, he handed me an envelope with a picture on it. The picture was of a piece of artwork he had painted years ago, that I loved. He told me he would get it printed on a canvas for my office.

This week it was finally delivered :)

Luis: The original piece of art (which is hanging behind me in our home office) doesn’t look half as vibrant and interesting as the canvased piece does. The photo above really doesn’t do it much justice. In case anyone’s wondering, I painted this 7 years ago for a 2D Art class. It represents Family.

christmas festivities

I’m sure everyone is sick of reading belated Christmas posts. So if you choose to completely ignore this, I don’t blame you.

As you may or may not be aware, Luis and I went to Dallas, TX for Christmas to celebrate with his family. We spent Christmas Eve with family friends (I’m not sure why we didn’t get a big group picture of everyone).

Then Christmas morning was nice and relaxed. Maricela made a lovely breakfast feast for everyone to enjoy.

This was me wishing I could eat something other than the cantaloupe.

Abel made out like a bandit.

Abel’s alligator got to munch on some pringles.

My cute mother-in-law captured the moments on her fancy iphone 4.

Following our trip to Texas, we went straight to Utah to bring in the New Year with my brother and his family. Unfortunately, none of us made it to midnight, and we have no pictures to show for it :-/

Putting Away Christmas

Christmas may have been 3 weeks ago, but we finally got around to taking down our Christmas tree. (Which is better than our mid-March take-down last year)

Check it out:

Favorite Christmas song?

First off, Merry Christmas everyone. Natalia and I are rocking Christmas with my family in Texas. We’ve been having a blast with my siblings and li’l nephew Abel.

It’s been interesting this Holiday season, as I’ve consciously been trying to enjoy more Christmas music. I am finding myself more and more drawn to one song in particular: Do You Hear What I Hear? (in particular, this version)

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

I’m not quite sure what it is– maybe, it’s the simplicity of the song, that it’s not “over done.” I dunno. Anyway, just wanted to share that. What has been your favorite?

Feliz Natal

Pretty much every holiday, we can expect to receive a card Natalia’s mom– and it’s no ordinary card. It’s usually the cutest, most awesome handmade card you’ve ever seen. Yesterday, (after several days of not getting the mail) we received this:

Natalia and I both really look forward to these cards. I honestly don’t think I could have asked for a better mother-in-law. She is too cute.

We love you, Mae. Thank you for your cards and feliz natal!

i don’t mean to alarm anyone… but

Christmas is next week. Didn’t we just have Thanksgiving yesterday?
