Valiversary

Our 4th Valiversay

What is a valiversary? Valentines Day + Anniversary… Duh! Luis and I decided to combine our Valentines Day and 6-month anniversary celebrations and simply have one special day just for us :)

As always, Valiversary comes around 1 week before Valentine’s Day. February 6th to be exact. Which makes it nice because we can still go out to eat and do something fun without having to worry about any crowds. This year we hit one of Luis’ old hometown favorites: On the Boarder. Although we have an On the Boarder here in Las Vegas, we had never gone there before.

We had a special guest join us for dinner:

(She had a lovely dinner of chewing on toys)

After dinner, Luis pulled an envelope out of his pocket with our special Valiversary activity. And we know you are all going to be jealous when we tell you what we did…. (drum roll, please)…. we went to try to find the Sister Wives!!! As you may remember from this post, we are a little obsessed with the Sister Wives (Natalia more so than Luis). So we went out to try to figure out where they live,  found a park they visited on the show, and even swung on the very swings Meri, Kody, and Mariah swung on!

This was Graciela’s first time on a real swing. What a lucky girl!

Our 3rd Valiversary

Our Valiversary was actually February 6 (which this year, happened to land on a Sunday and on Super Bowl Sunday no less). Even though Natalia surprised me with tickets to the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts’ production of Hairspray for the following weekend (this past weekend), we still had a mini-celebration on the 6th. Natalia wanted nothing more than to cook me a delicious meal (which she hasn’t done in quite some time), and she was such a trooper! She made a delicious batch of Honey-Lime Enchiladas (which I looove) and cilantro rice (also love).

The main celebration, though, went down this past weekend. We started the evening off with dinner at Chili’s! (and you know how much I love Chili’s).

Oh boy… Chili’s how UNoriginal. You guys are lame.

It was a BIG deal, THANK-YOU!

Then we were off to downtown for Hairspray. Despite being put on by teenagers, the show was incredibly well-produced. The sets, the lighting, the costumes– it was all amazingly well-done. The performances, the singing, the talent, was also stellar. I was extremely impressed and look forward to seeing future shows put on by this performance arts magnet school.

Our 2nd Valiversary

In this post, last year, Natalia wrote:

This would then mean, that our Valiversary is tomorrow. Natalia jokingly pointed out how I consider our Valiversary more important than Valentine’s Day (which we hardly celebrate, because of the Valiversary) and almost more important than our actual anniversary. To which I responded, “Yeah, so what!?”

There’s something special about having our very own holiday to ourselves. When couples go out on Valentine’s Day, it’s nothing but couples everywhere, and nothing seems unique or special. You just feel like you’re following the herd so you don’t feel left behind…

As part of our Valiversary celebrations (which included the flowers earlier this week), I have a small surprise for Natalia. Just a very simple “continuation” of our Wedding Video highlighting our life together since last year’s Valiversary. It features a different version of the song we danced to on our Wedding Day (and probably most everyone else’s wedding in 2008…). Regardless at how overused this song is, it is still so special for the both of us, especially this version.

Happy Valiversary, Mi Amor!

What is a valiversary? Valentines Day + Anniversary… Duh! Luis and I decided to combine our Valentines Day and 6-month anniversary celebrations and simply have one special day just for us :) So the day started with a wonderful french toast breakfast complete with roses and a gigantic card (Luis came up with this idea all on his own and wouldn’t let me come out of our bedroom until he was completely ready for me). It was so sweet, it brought tears to my eyes (and I’m not one to cry a whole lot).
